mandatory stage of maturity.<\/p><p data-start=\"693\" data-end=\"753\">It&#039;s a decision about allocating energy, capital, focus, and risk.<\/p><p data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"847\">And decisions like that shouldn&#039;t be made in the heat of the moment.<br data-start=\"808\" data-end=\"811\" \/>They should be approached rationally.<\/p><h2 data-section-id=\"1a68gh5\" data-start=\"849\" data-end=\"884\">The mistake of choosing the narrative.<\/h2><p data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"949\">There is a seductive narrative surrounding expansion into the US.<\/p><p data-start=\"951\" data-end=\"1056\">She promotes the idea that internationalization is automatically synonymous with evolution, sophistication, and scale.<\/p><p data-start=\"1058\" data-end=\"1090\">But this could be a trap.<\/p><p data-start=\"1092\" data-end=\"1183\">Because, in many cases, the entrepreneur doesn&#039;t want to go to the US because the business is already established.<\/p><p data-start=\"1185\" data-end=\"1204\">He wants to go because:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1385\"><li data-section-id=\"mk8e4s\" data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1229\">The market seems bigger.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1eo3qud\" data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1260\">The dollar seems more attractive.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"17a9duh\" data-start=\"1261\" data-end=\"1294\">The brand seems to be gaining more traction.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"nvw3vu\" data-start=\"1295\" data-end=\"1323\">other companies are going<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1c0segy\" data-start=\"1324\" data-end=\"1385\">The international operation seems to raise the company&#039;s profile.<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1387\" data-end=\"1433\">All of this may even have some basis in truth.<\/p><p data-start=\"1435\" data-end=\"1508\">But none of these reasons, on its own, justifies a sound strategic decision.<\/p><h2 data-section-id=\"1acpzwa\" data-start=\"1510\" data-end=\"1571\">Growing further in Brazil might be the smartest choice.<\/h2><p data-start=\"1573\" data-end=\"1605\">This part bothers a lot of people.<\/p><p data-start=\"1607\" data-end=\"1640\">But it needs to be said clearly:<\/p><p data-start=\"1642\" data-end=\"1745\"><strong data-start=\"1642\" data-end=\"1745\">In many cases, continuing to grow in Brazil is smarter than expanding into the US early on.<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"1747\" data-end=\"1755\">Why?<\/p><p data-start=\"1757\" data-end=\"1793\">Because growing up where you already understand:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1794\" data-end=\"1933\"><li data-section-id=\"4tstzo\" data-start=\"1794\" data-end=\"1822\">customer behavior<\/li><li data-section-id=\"30sh27\" data-start=\"1823\" data-end=\"1845\">commercial path of local growth \u2014 and decides to trade it for an expensive laboratory abroad.<\/p><h2 data-section-id=\"rxl4nh\" data-start=\"2259\" data-end=\"2309\">Expanding into the US might be the right move.<\/h2><p data-start=\"2311\" data-end=\"2330\">Now the other side.<\/p><p data-start=\"2332\" data-end=\"2425\">There are cases where continuing to grow only in Brazil begins to limit the business&#039;s potential.<\/p><p data-start=\"2427\" data-end=\"2470\">This happens when the company realizes that:<\/p><ul data-start=\"2472\" data-end=\"2781\"><li data-section-id=\"11mi81n\" data-start=\"2472\" data-end=\"2526\">There is real adherence of the offer to the American market.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"4nssew\" data-start=\"2527\" data-end=\"2558\">The potential ticket price is higher.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"9ntl1v\" data-start=\"2559\" data-end=\"2610\">Revenue in dollars improves the business structure.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"8ml5aa\" data-start=\"2611\" data-end=\"2661\">International positioning opens new doors.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"5e1839\" data-start=\"2662\" data-end=\"2715\">Expansion increases perceived value, margin, and scale.<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1k96k64\" data-start=\"2716\" data-end=\"2781\">The local market no longer offers the same growth prospects.<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"2783\" data-end=\"2858\">In these cases, entering the US can be an extremely smart decision.<\/p><p data-start=\"2860\" data-end=\"2888\">But notice the central point:<\/p><p data-start=\"2890\" data-end=\"2975\"><strong data-start=\"2890\" data-end=\"2975\">It is not geography that justifies expansion.<br data-start=\"2935\" data-end=\"2938\" \/>It&#039;s economic and strategic logic.<\/strong><\/p><h2 data-section-id=\"1b1psn9\" data-start=\"2977\" data-end=\"3044\">A rational decision begins with a brutally honest diagnosis.<\/h2><p data-start=\"3046\" data-end=\"3176\">Before choosing between Brazil and the US, the company needs to stop thinking like a fan and start thinking like a capital allocator.<\/p><p data-start=\"3178\" data-end=\"3186\">I.e:<\/p><p data-start=\"3188\" data-end=\"3227\">Where is there more risk-adjusted return?<\/p><p data-start=\"3229\" data-end=\"3266\">This decision goes through five filters.<\/p><h2 data-section-id=\"oo0ad9\" data-start=\"3268\" data-end=\"3326\">1. Where is the best real opportunity for growth?<\/h2><p data-start=\"3328\" data-end=\"3361\">Not the prettiest.<br data-start=\"3346\" data-end=\"3349\" \/>The most realistic one.<\/p><p data-start=\"3363\" data-end=\"3426\">If your company can still grow strongly in Brazil with:<\/p><ul data-start=\"3427\" data-end=\"3530\"><li data-section-id=\"uhjpbl\" data-start=\"3427\" data-end=\"3453\">lower acquisition cost<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1mifn8l\" data-start=\"3454\" data-end=\"3480\">more predictable operation<\/li><li data-section-id=\"15v5uke\" data-start=\"3481\" data-end=\"3503\">more well-matched team<\/li><li data-section-id=\"3x3mkr\" data-start=\"3504\" data-end=\"3530\">shorter adaptation curve<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"3532\" data-end=\"3592\">So perhaps Brazil is still the best field for expansion.<\/p><p data-start=\"3594\" data-end=\"3646\">Now, if the Brazilian market has already started to impose limits:<\/p><ul data-start=\"3647\" data-end=\"3746\"><li data-section-id=\"1l5lar0\" data-start=\"3647\" data-end=\"3655\">ticket<\/li><li data-section-id=\"157wry1\" data-start=\"3656\" data-end=\"3664\">margin<\/li><li data-section-id=\"14jbget\" data-start=\"3665\" data-end=\"3685\">perception of value<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1g0wiml\" data-start=\"3686\" data-end=\"3708\">scalability<\/li><li data-section-id=\"gv880v\" data-start=\"3709\" data-end=\"3746\">access to more sophisticated customers<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"3748\" data-end=\"3796\">then the US might start to make more sense.<\/p><p data-start=\"3798\" data-end=\"3819\">The question is simple:<\/p><p data-start=\"3821\" data-end=\"3884\"><strong data-start=\"3821\" data-end=\"3884\">Where is further growth most viable and most profitable?<\/strong><\/p><h2 data-section-id=\"ruqh6p\" data-start=\"3886\" data-end=\"3964\">2. Is the company ready to compete, or is it simply tired of the current market?<\/h2><p data-start=\"3966\" data-end=\"3991\">This is a critical filter.<\/p><p data-start=\"3993\" data-end=\"4064\">Many expansion decisions stem not from readiness, but from frustration.<\/p><p data-start=\"4066\" data-end=\"4167\">The company is facing difficulties in Brazil and is beginning to fantasize that another market will solve the problem.<\/p><p data-start=\"4169\" data-end=\"4247\">However, in practice, many businesses are not ready to compete outside of Brazil.<\/p><p data-start=\"4249\" data-end=\"4283\">It&#039;s just uncomfortable inside.<\/p><p data-start=\"4285\" data-end=\"4314\">If the company is still experiencing:<\/p><ul data-start=\"4315\" data-end=\"4444\"><li data-section-id=\"1xlveqr\" data-start=\"4315\" data-end=\"4337\">weak positioning<\/li><li data-section-id=\"yn0hjm\" data-start=\"4338\" data-end=\"4361\">inconsistent sales<\/li><li data-section-id=\"uuxvh6\" data-start=\"4362\" data-end=\"4386\">disorganized operation<\/li><li data-section-id=\"flwhhy\" data-start=\"4387\" data-end=\"4422\">excessive dependence on the founder<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1p62wun\" data-start=\"4423\" data-end=\"4444\">poorly defined offer<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"4446\" data-end=\"4484\">The problem probably isn&#039;t the country.<\/p><p data-start=\"4486\" data-end=\"4513\">It&#039;s the architecture of the business.<\/p><p data-start=\"4515\" data-end=\"4581\">And changing geography without correcting the base only increases complexity.<\/p><h2 data-section-id=\"17xhwqw\" data-start=\"4583\" data-end=\"4635\">3. data-end=\"6094\">A company ready for the US knows how to answer:<\/p><ul data-start=\"6095\" data-end=\"6273\"><li data-section-id=\"ll3e8e\" data-start=\"6095\" data-end=\"6118\">why are you entering<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1itoos6\" data-start=\"6119\" data-end=\"6141\">Who is it going to sell to?<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1rnmtia\" data-start=\"6142\" data-end=\"6169\">Which offer will you prioritize?<\/li><li data-section-id=\"7gf6om\" data-start=\"6170\" data-end=\"6198\">How will you acquire customers?<\/li><li data-section-id=\"1qsn6sv\" data-start=\"6199\"
